Public institutions are not short of data or of intent. They are short of the tools that turn one into the other — so a department can hold years of footage, survey records and field reports and still be unable to answer a simple question fast enough for the answer to matter.

We build the thing that answers the question. We start from a problem someone actually has, and we stop when that person can do their job better.
